About the Roles

PolicyWise currently has an exciting opportunity for a Knowledge Mobilization and Relationship Specialist to join our team on a full-time basis in either Edmonton or Calgary. This role is currently operating on a remote basis during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Reporting to the Senior Operations Officer, this role will see you lead PolicyWise's knowledge mobilization efforts. Your efforts will allow Policywise to maintain its commitment to sharing, exchanging, and co-creating evidence and knowledge. Your work will create environments and build relationships where people are encouraged to share, learn, and collaborate. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating with project teams to identify opportunities for knowledge mobilization. 
  • Connecting knowledge mobilization activities with PolicyWise's larger marketing and communication strategy. 
  • Identifying and posting project reports, infographics, and tools to the PolicyWise website. 
  • Developing creative knowledge products such as infographics, newsletters, fact-sheets, lay summaries, presentations, and/or video stories that follow established design guidelines and parameters. 
  • Interpreting and identifying key results from research evidence and succinctly summarizing findings in plain language for diverse audiences. 
  • Developing strategies to facilitate the exchange of knowledge between researchers, service providers, and policy advisors in areas of interest to PolicyWise. 
  • Designing, organizing, facilitating, and evaluating knowledge-sharing events such as stakeholder meetings, webinars, community forums, and other engagement activities. 
  • Planning and overseeing the evaluation of knowledge mobilization strategies undertaken. 
  • Developing and maintaining communications and relationships within PolicyWise.
  • Facilitating the establishment of external relationships. 
  • Overseeing PolicyWise's client relationship processes. 
  • Developing relationships with partners to gain a better understanding of information needs. 
  • Liaising with the Strategic Communications consultant to ensure high standards in organizational communications and alignment with corporate messages. 
  • Preparing communication materials such as letters, newsletters, or presentations in both plain language and academic style. 
  • Interpreting and identifying key results from research evidence and succinctly summarizing findings in plain language. 
  • Supporting the Senior Leadership Team with strategic communications. 
  • Managing web content and social media accounts. 
  • Scanning for appropriate venues for PolicyWise research to be featured within.

About You

In order to qualify for this role, you'll need a Master's Degree in a related field along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in relevant policy, practice, or research settings. Candidates without a Master's Degree in a related field may also be considered providing they have at least 10 years of experience in relevant policy, practice, or research settings. 

As our ideal candidate for this role you'll be an assertive team player who also possesses:

  • Demonstrated experience with knowledge mobilization practices. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both plain language and academic style. 
  • The ability to find, appraise, and adapt information. 
  • A strong understanding of both research, service provision, and policy communities. 
  • A strong understanding of research methods. 
  • Proficient facilitation skills. 
  • The ability to network and develop relationships with diverse partners. 
  • The ability to work independently and manage projects effectively. 
  • Effective time management skills. 
  • Strong knowledge of, and abilities with, the WordPress content management system and Adobe Design Suite is desirable.
