About the Opportunity
PolicyWise currently has an opportunity for a Data Analyst to join our team on a full-time basis, in either Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta.
Reporting to their Manager, the Data Analyst is responsible for conducting a wide variety of data analyses from social and health services, utilizing advance analytical and quantitative skills to support PolicyWise’s research projects.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Data Management:
- Working with large sets of data from a variety of government and non-profit partners
- Maintaining and optimizing databases
- Performing complex data commands (data linking, linkage quality assessment, and data manipulation)
Data Collection:
- Supporting project teams in data analysis, preparing tables/charts/graphs, and presentations
- Analyzing quantitative data (including administrative data)
- Developing and drafting surveys
- Documenting processes
- Synthesizing and summarizing data patterns
- Writing and collaborating drafts and summaries
- Applying advanced analytics skills in large/complex datasets
Data Stewardship:
- Supporting with consent forms, information sharing, governance to promote effective and sustainable data management
- Capacity building and training for social-serving sector, identify opportunities, conduct needs assessments and strengths for data use and collection
More About You
To qualify, you will need a Master's degree, with a very strong quantitative emphasis.
We are also looking for candidates with several years experience working with large datasets and using statistical packages (SAS, R software, Stata etc.), and a strong understanding of data use in the social-serving sector.
In addition, we require strong skills, experience, and knowledge in the following:
- Quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and good interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks
- Desire and ability to learn and develop new skills
- Demonstrated computer skills (e.g., advanced Excel, data visualization software)
- Ability to work both individually and as a team member
