About the Opportunity

Currently, we are seeking a Data Management Analyst to join our team in either Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta. This is a full-time, permanent position with a 6-month probationary period.

Reporting to the Research and Policy Manager, you will be responsible for building capacity in the non-profit sector for good data management practices. Your advanced understanding of data collection systems, analytical, and quantitative skills will also help support PolicyWise’s projects.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  Data Management:

  • Building capacity among non-profit staff to practice good data management by developing and delivering practical guides, workshops, and coaching sessions
  • Conducting current state assessments and requirements gathering processes to inform data management planning
  • Co-designing data collection protocols with non-profit partners that match service delivery and evaluation/research needs
  • Developing consent forms and information sharing agreements
  • Developing, monitoring, and revising data governance policies and working with people to support their adoption and ongoing use
  • Application of relevant privacy, legislation and ethical considerations to guide data collection across sectors

  Data Collection and Analysis:

  • Developing data capture tools (surveys, forms, etc.) and data management plans
  • Documenting processes
  • Supporting project teams in data analysis, preparing tables/charts/graphs, and presentations
  • Analyzing quantitative data
  • Synthesizing and summarizing data patterns

More About You

To qualify, you will need a bachelor's degree, with a quantitative emphasis. A Master's Degree in any related field will be considered an asset.

Due to the nature of the role, an understanding of, interactions with, and experience in the social serving sector is considered an asset (e.g. non-profits, children/youth groups, Indigenous communities, and other marginalized groups).

In addition, we require strong skills, experience, and knowledge in the following:

  • Applying principles of data equity, and Indigenous data sovereignty
  • Using statistical or data management packages (SPSS, SAS, R software, Stata, NVivo, Qualtrics, REDCap, etc.)
  • Desire and ability to learn and develop new technology skills
  • Creative analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks
