About the Opportunity

PolicyWise currently has an exciting opportunity for a Knowledge Mobilization Specialist to join our team in either Edmonton or Calgary. This is a full-time, permanent position with a 6-month probationary period.

Reporting to the Knowledge Mobilization & Relationship Specialist, your efforts will allow PolicyWise to maintain its commitment to sharing, exchanging, and co-creating knowledge that centres the communities who use it. In this role, your main responsibility will be creating, gathering, and sharing resources, tools, and other policy and practice-relevant products for a 'knowledge hub' that is currently in development.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Writing content for knowledge mobilization activities and products aimed at diverse audiences including community, practice, and government; this may include letters, policy briefs, or presentations in both plain language and academic style
  • Developing creative knowledge products such as infographics, newsletters, fact-sheets, lay summaries, presentations, and/or audio/video stories for diverse audiences 
  • Creating, updating, and managing web content (using WordPress and Elementor) and social media accounts including written and visual content
  • Applying an equity, diversity, and inclusion lens to all knowledge mobilization activities, including tools, resources, and sharing opportunities
  • Interpreting and identifying key results from research reports and succinctly summarizing findings in plain language for diverse practice and community audiences
  • Supporting, marketing, and facilitating knowledge-sharing events such as stakeholder meetings, webinars, community forums
  • Working with communications and project teams to identify opportunities for knowledge mobilization
  • Supporting the connection of knowledge mobilization activities with PolicyWise's larger marketing and communication strategy 
  • Supporting knowledge mobilization and communications planning, strategy development, and tool and resource creation to guide internal activities

About You

In order to qualify for this role, you'll need a master's degree in a practice or community-oriented social-research related field. You will also require a minimum of 3 years of experience in knowledge mobilization in policy, practice, or research settings, specifically creating written and visual content. Candidates without a master's degree in a related field may also be considered providing they have at least 10 years of knowledge mobilization experience in relevant policy, practice, or research settings. 

As our ideal candidate for this role, you'll be a collaborative team player who also possesses:

  • Demonstrated experience with knowledge mobilization practices, capacity building, and product creation
  • A strong understanding of research, service provision, and policy communities
  • Experience in practice or policy relevant research and evaluation, including research design and methods
  • A commitment to ongoing learning and an equity, social justice, and human rights orientation
  • Competency with computer applications including Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, OneDrive, and WordPress
  • Experience with social media content creation and strategy (asset)
  • Experience with video or audio content creation (asset)
  • Design skills and working knowledge of software like the Adobe Design Suite, Figma, and/or Canva (asset)

Lastly, you will be a great communicator who is able to work collaboratively across multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
